Company helps veteran feel at home

"Words cannot express the tremendous gratitude I have for Purple Hearts Homes and Beco for recognizing the disabilities Vietnam veterans like myself must deal with on a daily basis." Morrell enlisted in the U.S. Army and served three tours of duty in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969. During this time, he was exposed to Agent Orange, a blend of herbicides and petroleum used during the Vietnam War to kill vegetation providing cover for enemy forces. Since the exposure, he has had heart problems and diabetes, which eventually led to the amputation of his left leg.

"It was exciting to thing that we could be a part of something meaningful to a person's life who had so faithfully served our country," said David Saunders, company president. "Several of our team members are passionate about giving back to those who have served our country.

"When we told them about this opportunity, they immediately jumped on board and volunteered their time.
