IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO CHILDREN OF VIETNAM VETERANS: File Form 21-0304

CHILDREN OF VIETNAM VETERANS: File Form 21-0304

CHILDREN OF VIETNAM VETERANS: File Form 21-0304

Vietnam Veterans of America Agent Orange/Dioxin Committee asks all the children (we suggest grandchildren also) of Vietnam veterans exposed to Agent Orange who are ill and/or suffering from a birth defect, learning disabilities, mental health illness, etc..to file a claim with the VA.

Please use VA Form 21-0304. This is the same form used for the children of women Vietnam veterans. Your claim will be denied, but it will cause a record to be established.

Once this is done, should the VA change itā€™s policies and allow male veteransā€™ children more than spina bifida as a presumptive for the veteranā€™s exposure to Agent Orange, our families will then have recourse.

Hi. Does it make a difference with this childrenā€™s application that my dad was receiving AO benefits from VA?

Hi Mary, No it doesn’t make a difference that I am aware.

I am the oldest daughter of a Vietnam veteran. He was diagnosed a few years ago with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and is currently 100% disabled through the VA. I have been having problems with peripheral neuropathy for about 3 years and was sent today for a lupus work up. Everything I have found for lists of diseases are all from several years ago. Where can I look for a current list?

    • admin Reply

Hi Sheree, I do not believe there is a current list available. We have started collecting more health data but just not enough people to do the work. What I can tell you is that there are other children of vets exposed to Agent Orange that have lupus. Hello. My father served was a Marine. The years he served our country was 10/66-10/70. He was exposed to Agent Orange and it has affected his 3 children, mostly me, being the eldest of three. I was born with hip dysplasia and had a total hip replacement in May of 2016. I have Cancer in the 4th stage. I started having trouble with a mass in my bottom area in 2016. I was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma in the beginning of 2017. These are the major problems that I have fighting for the last few years. I am doing ok but I was told that a NORMAL individual with the kind of cancer that I have, without treatment, only has a year. One with treatment has up to three years. Its a damn good thing I’m not normal…

Thank you for your comment Ammy. I am so sorry to hear about your health problems. You are right about one thing which is you and the other children of veterans exposed to Agent Orange are far from NORMAL. If you have any further questions you can contact me at aolegacy@gmail.com. My Dad was in country 70-71. I have fibromyalgia, arthritis, ADD, clinical depression and anxiety. My kids also have ADD/ADHD and one possible autism spectrum disorder. My Dad passed in May of 17, from lung cancer. I don’t think he “registered ” exposure with the VA though. Should I still contact them?

I was doing research and found this website. So far I have 14 illness’ out of the list. One of my many doctors recommended that I check with Veterans Affair because of all the trouble that I am having. How do I proceed with my case, where do I start?

Hi Christy, Thank you for your message. VA will not help you but might give you advice if you were to call them and explain your situation. VVA has encouraged all children of veterans exposed to Agent Orange to apply for benefits. Here is the form that you will need to do this: VA FORM 21-0304>>>https://lovme.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/vba-21-0304-ARE.pdf. Father was never diagnoised with exposure but passed away from massive heartattack at 54. He had very bad ptsd and was in process of completing VA paperwork when he passed.. Broke my heart to read some of the answer s he gave…. I have anxiety and have been on meds for it for years.
