Vietnam memorial wall escorted through Dana Point

"It's about healing," said Johnson, of San Diego, who has several friends' names written on the wall. Johnson said he suffered from diabetes after returning from Vietnam due to his exposure to Agent Orange, a chemical used during the war.

For J.K. Davis, a retired Marine Corps general who also fought in the Vietnam War and now lives in San Clemente, the wall is "a special symbol for Vietnam veterans to finally get the recognition."

Johnson said that when he returned, a man spit on him and called him a baby killer.
